The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
