Ten convicted of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.

The court issued suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's identity.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she was a teacher at his secondary school.

The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
